So this is the infamous institute?

Religion, one of the greatest problems and it always has been. Yet I’m fascinated by how people chose to belief the writings of one book. * Takes the books from him and begins flicking through the Bible* Though shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife? Well they have a point there. Obviously they aren’t so into affairs of the heart… Wow, a book about the history of the world? Must be a pretty big book…
I know a little bit of history about them… I really like that sort of stuff but nothing major.
image

Yeah? I like how quiet they always seem to be. I always would go to one when I was in a bad mood. I would never ever leave in one.

Some of the things the Bible has to say makes sense, as for most religious texts but the rest, in my view anyway is pretty much bullshit.  Actually the history book isn’t that big,  which is probably why I like it so much, it’s short and concise.  What kind of things do you know?

They do having a calming effect.

I’m gonna go with non fiction. It seems like the have different ideas from us about certain things. Do you find this place interesting?
image

Oh, they definitely do.  They have a lot of ideas about a lot of subjects, if anything I’d probably start with religion but its up to you. Hm. [looks at the bookshelves and starts taking down some books] Here’s a couple you could start with, ‘the Bible’ is a religious text but only for some mundanes, some listen to the teachings in the Torah or the Qur’an.  ‘Corpus Aristotelicum’ is a collection of surviving works by Artistotle who was a Greek philsopher and ‘A Little History of the World’ is what the title says except it stops in the 1930s so you have to read another book to read about the events afterwards. But I’m assuming you know nothing about the mundanes, correct me if I’m wrong.

To answer your question, yes I do but I like libraries in general.

Well, I know that my people are important to me, my queen… my friends. I guess I’ll know what else is when I see it or feel it. *smiles a little* Okay, okay.
image

I think I want to look at the Mundane texts first. I’m quite interested in how they look at the world. What they see…

[nods his head] Ok then. Mundane it is. I haven’t looked at the mundane texts a lot but I guess it’s similar to the rest of the library. It depends of what kind of book you want to read? Fiction or non fiction?

I see… *shakes her head* Not really, I just learned to only chair only about the important things. The rest is irrelevant. Sure, I could use some help, if you don’t mind that is. I’m sure you have better things to do than show a fae around a library.
image

If you don’t mind my asking, what do you consider important? Look, I’m offering to help ok if I didn’t want to I would have left by now. Better things? Not really. Important things? Perhaps, but not so important that they can’t wait.

So this library is basically spilt into 3 different sections: shadowhunter books, books about downworlders and the mundane texts. What do you want to look at first?

Being as you put it: a heartless bastard, is the best way to be in this world. In the life we chose to live. Feelings…. cause nothing but misery. I told you also because I was trying to remind myself why I chose to come to this place.
Why stare at it with rose tinted spectacles? All you get is disappointment.
*walks through the doors, giving him a thank you smile and gasps at the sheer scale of the place.* At least one room here was no disappointment!

Heartless bastard aren’t really the words I would describe myself with but someone once did and it seemed appropriate considering our conversation. I see, so you reacted to your parents’ death by turning off the metaphorical emotional button.  Fair enough, although I would like to point out that misery is technically a feeling but people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. [shrugs] I was just double-checking. [gestures to the books] Want any help? Or would you rather look around yourself?

Normally when someone doesn’t care they can at least offer condolences. Good thing I didn’t tell you for sympathy. No, that’s not what I want to hear. What I would like to hear is the truth. Which you gave me at the end. I have to agree with you. Even though I want them all dead that will probably never happen. This war will go on for longer than the Clave hope. I know that much.
image

Yes, well as you’ll soon find out if you haven’t already guessed I’m a heartless bastard. Why did you tell me then? Was it really because you think people here would find out? Most of them have their own secrets.  Glad to see you’re being realistic about this war, anyway back to the reason we’re walking down these corridors. [stops walking and opens a door, he walks through it but holds the door for Colette] Welcome to the library.

Yes the are but it will come out eventually. My parents were brutally murdered by demons. Who do you think will win?
image

Ah. Well I would say I’m sorry but…I can’t. Anyway, who do I think will win? Honestly? Well I could tell you what you want to hear that the Clave will destroy every single demon and we’ll all live happily ever after, and they honestly have a good chance considering their history. However at the same time I doubt the demons would have revealed their presence without some ulterior motive so really this battle is 50/50.
